The Eagles Fight Villanova to the Finish
Thursday, March 19 - For more than a half, the American University men's basketball team looked like this year's NCAA Tournament Cinderella story. The Eagles led by 10 at halftime and stretched that lead to 14 in the second half before falling to No. 3 Villanova, 80-67, at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.
More than 400 AU students, faculty, and staff packed the Tavern to watch the Eagles dominate a heavily favored Villanova team in the first half with a flurry of three pointers.
The Eagles performance even garnered Twitter shoutouts from AU alums and Meet the Press colleagues David Gregory and Betsy Fischer.
